Spring is finally here and Grade 3 are looking forward to the upcoming Spring break.
It has been a busy trimester. The students have worked incredibly hard and should be proud of their accomplishments. It was wonderful to be able to share their successes with you, via our written reports and recent 3 Way Conferences. Please always feel free to contact us if you would like to chat about your child's progress.
We have just completed our Inquiry in to 'Who We Are' and the children have had a great opportunity to discover more about themselves, to reflect on their strengths and receive positive affirming feedback from you, us and their school friends. We will hang their life size posters in the school soon, which show the culmination of their personal qualities and skills. Please take a look next time you visit school.
This week we commence our Inquiry in to 'Sharing The Planet'. We will investigate how the earth's natural cycles help to regenerate its resources, with a particular focus on our local sea environment. To assist the children to develop a hands on perspective, we will be visiting a local fishing village on Thursday 6th of April. More information and permission form to follow soon.
If you have any books or educational materials at home that are connected to the list below we would love to borrow them over the next few weeks, particularly if they are in your child's first language:
* renewable and non-renewable resources
* earth cycles - water, air, animals, plants
* our responsibility to manage the Earth's resources
Our primary focus in mathematics has been graphing and we are introducing fractions and money. As always our weekly maths includes a wide range of activities that allow the students to continue to practice and build upon their number knowledge.
In literacy we will focus on reading whilst determining opinion versus fact, persuasive writing and in word study - prefixes and nouns.
We wish you and your family a restful Spring break and look forward to another brilliant term when we all return.
